The hardest thing about being a florist is hunting down flowers that I love. The market has lots of beautiful things but even what's local and in season has been chosen for it's longevity or reliability. It's almost impossible to find anything short lived, delicate or irregularly coloured and those, to me, are the most beautiful flowers of all. The only way to get those kinds of flowers is to grow them yourself.
Right now I'm half way through my first, proper growing year - right now my roses are in their first flush and everything else is just about to explode into flower.
My goal for this wedding season is for every job to include at least something grown by me.
